Syntonic light therapy helps to restore balance to the nervous system; balance between the antagonistic processes of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system.
It has been used clinically for over 70 years in the field of optometry with continued success in the treatment of visual dysfunctions, including strabismus (eye turn), amblyopia (lazy eye), focusing and convergence problems, and in the treatment of brain injuries.
Syntonics is optometric light therapy presented through or onto the eyes. Specific color frequencies are gazed at by the eyes to restore or enhance specific vision issues or problems. Patients are diagnosed by symptoms, visual evaluation, including functional visual field testing, and visual/motor performance.
It is a specific optometric prescription or series of prescriptions of color exposures over a defined period of time to restore, compensate, or enhance a physiological visual imbalance. Once balance is restored, the effect is long lasting in most cases.
